Book Blog Tuesday the 28th

This week I read Shiver. At first I thought that this book would be a little dull and 'feminine'. But I was wrong. This book was really quite good. Grace is eleven, when a pack of wolves all of the sudden take her while she is swinging outside on her tire swing. They then proceed to maul her in the woods. As they are mauling her a wolf, Sam watches on and eventually gets them to stop. After this graphic event, she becomes a part of the wolf pack. And is accepted as one of the wolves. I have read quite a few books like this. But this one was really interesting and different. I would kind of compare to a book, Wolf Brother, but I prefer that to Shiver.

I don't care anymore

I don't care anymore
And when people ask what for
I say the same as I did before
Ladies and gentlemen please let me reside
Now I will let you decide
Rigid smooth solid
A phrase patented by fluent thought
Instantly cast as soon as it's brought
Firm feelings sometimes form
Because I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore

Book Blog Tuesday the 21st

Catch-22 is focused in WWII, following a bomber named John Yossarian. Yossarian is stationed in Pianosa an island in the mediterranean, just off of the coast of Italy. John has to deal with all the problems of war, including his superiors, who waste resources, and send him and his crew on life threatening missions. I really liked this book, partially because I like history, and also because it is written so vividly. This book contains some mature content.

Occasional Poem

The 93-

Forever remembered
Never forgotten
A tear shed for their loss
The gates were brought down
And so were the 93
The disaster consumed
And ended 93
Forever remembered
Never forgotten
A tear shed for their loss
The crowd went on over
And 93 were lost
But never forgotten
Forever remembered

Ode to Amazon Prime

So fast, so quick
The speed, on fleek
That is what I think when I see mine
Cuz it's comin from Amazon Prime
I order my parts
They come lickedy splick
My driver brings em, his name is Rick
It's like my dream come true
And maybe some day it can happen to you
The van drops of your stuff
So you dont get into a huff
Grab your things, take em inside
Find a nice spot for them to reside
Whenever I hear the doorbell chime
I know that it's Amazon Prime

Navigating Early

Jack Baker is a boy living in Kansas, but to his surprise he gets sent to an all boys school in Maine. Jack feels extremely lonely and he becomes friends with Early Auden, the strange boy of the school. On school break the two go to the Appalachian trail, on an adventure to find a black bear. They travel deep into the mountains, finding strange things, and strange people. This book is actually pretty good, and I am extremely surprised by that. I didn't think I would like it, but it is a good book, and it is a little exciting.

Haikus

Five syllables here
Seven syllables here
Are you happy now?

On this tree I sit
Sunlight pours into the sky
The grass starts to smile

I stop for a bit
Children start to weep and cry
Thunder tumbles in

Tree bark

The moss clutches to the wet string bark that hangs from the tree. Gripping to maintain life, and giving a sense of happiness to the place. The trees crowded together. An owl hooted from a branch, and the slow pitter patter of rain drops could be heard on the hills. The grass started to grow, but most life was pushed away, deer and mice scampered to a warmer dry place. The rain begins to shower, and a thunder storm starts. But the wildlife know after this it will be warm, lively, and very green. Because after every storm there is a rainbow, and every rainbow leaves happiness.

Book Blog- Spring Break- The Host

The Host is a sort of dystopian future book, that follows Melanie, who is leaving on the earth after it has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of humans, but leave their bodies intact. When wanderer, who is part of the invading species, attempts to take Melanie's mind, she fights back. Melanie fills the Wanderer's mind with visions of Jared, a human who lives in hiding, and they both yearn for him. This book is really good, and I was surprised that I liked it. It has some mature content but not a lot.
