SOL Trip Edition

My chest heaved casting thick air into my boiling hot body. My legs burned calves feeling the power of the wind. My eyes take in the beauty of the bright clouds folding over each other, tumbling across the evening stars. Waves crashed against the rocks contrasting beauty with power. Algae clung to the wet rocks struggling to live in the harsh environment. The smell of salt clung to me, my forehead draped in sweat. As I looked out on to the ocean, I take in the sprawling mass of waves and water, the power and the peace.

Book blog the Phantom Tollbooth

A few weeks ago I read the Phantom Tollbooth again. This is most certainly my favorite book and I felt the need to return to it. Milo a child who is a little bored with his dull life receives an imaginary tollbooth, upon driving through it in his toy car he is taken to another land. Here he met Tock his new loyal companion who will accompany him through his many adventures. This book is so good just because of the detail crazy characters and the imagination in it. I recommend this book for anyone. If you haven't read it you must, I am certain you will love it.

Book Blog Tuesday the 28th

This week I read Shiver. At first I thought that this book would be a little dull and 'feminine'. But I was wrong. This book was really quite good. Grace is eleven, when a pack of wolves all of the sudden take her while she is swinging outside on her tire swing. They then proceed to maul her in the woods. As they are mauling her a wolf, Sam watches on and eventually gets them to stop. After this graphic event, she becomes a part of the wolf pack. And is accepted as one of the wolves. I have read quite a few books like this. But this one was really interesting and different. I would kind of compare to a book, Wolf Brother, but I prefer that to Shiver.

Book Blog Tuesday the 21st

Catch-22 is focused in WWII, following a bomber named John Yossarian. Yossarian is stationed in Pianosa an island in the mediterranean, just off of the coast of Italy. John has to deal with all the problems of war, including his superiors, who waste resources, and send him and his crew on life threatening missions. I really liked this book, partially because I like history, and also because it is written so vividly. This book contains some mature content.

Occasional Poem

The 93-

Forever remembered
Never forgotten
A tear shed for their loss
The gates were brought down
And so were the 93
The disaster consumed
And ended 93
Forever remembered
Never forgotten
A tear shed for their loss
The crowd went on over
And 93 were lost
But never forgotten
Forever remembered

Ode to Amazon Prime

So fast, so quick
The speed, on fleek
That is what I think when I see mine
Cuz it's comin from Amazon Prime
I order my parts
They come lickedy splick
My driver brings em, his name is Rick
It's like my dream come true
And maybe some day it can happen to you
The van drops of your stuff
So you dont get into a huff
Grab your things, take em inside
Find a nice spot for them to reside
Whenever I hear the doorbell chime
I know that it's Amazon Prime

Navigating Early

Jack Baker is a boy living in Kansas, but to his surprise he gets sent to an all boys school in Maine. Jack feels extremely lonely and he becomes friends with Early Auden, the strange boy of the school. On school break the two go to the Appalachian trail, on an adventure to find a black bear. They travel deep into the mountains, finding strange things, and strange people. This book is actually pretty good, and I am extremely surprised by that. I didn't think I would like it, but it is a good book, and it is a little exciting.

Tree bark

The moss clutches to the wet string bark that hangs from the tree. Gripping to maintain life, and giving a sense of happiness to the place. The trees crowded together. An owl hooted from a branch, and the slow pitter patter of rain drops could be heard on the hills. The grass started to grow, but most life was pushed away, deer and mice scampered to a warmer dry place. The rain begins to shower, and a thunder storm starts. But the wildlife know after this it will be warm, lively, and very green. Because after every storm there is a rainbow, and every rainbow leaves happiness.

Book Blog- Spring Break- The Host

The Host is a sort of dystopian future book, that follows Melanie, who is leaving on the earth after it has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of humans, but leave their bodies intact. When wanderer, who is part of the invading species, attempts to take Melanie's mind, she fights back. Melanie fills the Wanderer's mind with visions of Jared, a human who lives in hiding, and they both yearn for him. This book is really good, and I was surprised that I liked it. It has some mature content but not a lot.

Last one- SOL Tuesday the 31st

The sun slowly rises above the horizon, and now I know my daunting fate has hit me. I look at my clock, 9:00 am. Late already, the house seems unusually quiet though. I get up and ask everyone why I am so late for school. But the first answer I get is, because you need to get up earlier. It seems as if I forgot, that it is SPRING BREAK. I sprint down the stairs, and then I ask myself what I am doing, so I sprint back to bed and enjoy another four hours of sleep before I have to do anything.

SOL Monday teh 30th- Mini golf

Tiger Woods calls for silence on the field, and the crowd pauses its chatter. He brings his putter up to the ball, and he swings back breathing in and out slowly. He adjusts his hat and stretches a littles, rolling back his shoulders and he does a few lunges quickly. He takes a large breath in and reals back one last time. He nudges the ball into the hole with his putter, and the crowd goes wild. Because they know that I have one the mini golf game.

Sol Sunday the 29th- pizzaaaaa

The soft crust warms my throat, and just the thought of having more brings a tasty sensation. I open up the box again scanning for a good piece, locating one while the smells drift up my nostrils. I pick up a large piece and slowly bring it to my mouth. It is then consumed quickly, all but the taste is gone, which still lingers in my mouth bringing a grin across my face. But it does not last long, because soon all of the pizza is gone and my stomach is stuffed to the brim.

The Therapist

The Therapist sits, he waits, he fiddles, he listens, taking in the information that's needed, looking at all of the options, all possibilities, all problems. Then he analyses every detail, every nook, every corner. Then he writes, he waits, and talks, destroying the problem from the root, taking out all necessary forms of life that the problem can feed off of. Then comes the most important process, the resolution, what to do without the problem? How to build out of a pit? How to... re-create? The therapist must assess all options again when looking at this question, and now the couple is back to the rebuilding process, and it's back to the grindstone for the therapist.

Cats

Cats, disgusting, ferocious, vile, vicious, are just a few words that come into mind when I think of these horrible creatures. Their feline prowl is influenced by a primal instinct from within their disgusting bodies. Like Taylor Swift once said, it's like they're nightmares dressed as daydreams. The meaning of this quote applies so heavily to these violent creatures, and in my mind they portray a deeper being, like the spawn of a devil. I hate these foul things, they are the scum of the earth in my mind, except for kittens. A dog is much more of a companion and a friend than a cat.

(generic post title)

I bite into the pasty taking away an enormous amount of pastry, meat, and fantastic flavor. The second bite is just as good as the first if not better, each bite after satisfying my taste buds, and making my stomach feel happy. As I pick it up again a bit of pastry crumbles away, and some meat tumbles out. I lean down looking at the soft, glistening piece of meat in the sunlight and scoop it into my mouth. I can feel the warmth as it slides down my throat, heating every inch of my body up. I shut my eyes, taking in every bit of the delicious taste. But all of the sudden it's gone, the taste, the flavor, the heat, the pastry, the meat, ALL GONE! My taste buds feel deprived, and I look down to see nothing on my plate, no pasty, no fun.

Puppies

My finger scrolls on the mouse wheel, going down the webpage, browsing, scanning the possible choices. The litter is due April 4th, the end of Spring break, perfect. I exhale deeply and view the options. Black, must be black, gender, who cares, age, 6 weeks, perfect. I am excited, yet a little sad, we will go see the litter when they are born, and then visit back in 2 weeks, and after that in 4, to pick up the one we want.

Book Blog SOL- Tuesday

Feed is set in America, in the near future. Science has advanced so that space tourism is available, and around seventy percent of the population has something called The Feed, which is essentially the internet and social media implanted in the person's, legs, head and body. Titus the main character is on a Spring trip to the Moon, where he meets Violet, an attractive female person. One day they decide to go out to a club, when suddenly Titus' and his friends' feeds get hacked by a mysterious person. They end up in the hospital and have to go back to Earth, where real things start to enroll, and they start to find out what is truly happening. This book is pretty good, but it is kind of boring, in a sense that not a lot happens.

Scones

The hot tea washes down my throat, casting away any sense of dryness or thirst left from my scones. Their crumbs sit on the plate and I look at them, trying not to think of the memories I had with them. Knowing instead of mourning and being sad that I should treasure the memories I had with the scones, and not forget how delicious they were. I loved them so much and every moment, every instant I thought of them a hint of sadness crept through my mind. I tried to force it out, thinking of the memories I would treasure forever with these scones. But nevertheless I miss them, and they were such a big part of my tea time. So as I sit here writing this in reconciliation, and as I sit here in my sorrow I remember the scones, their taste, their look, and their texture, and how good they tasted.

Bevin Is close to the King, and civil war looms. Can Sage find a way out of this mess. Their is little mature content, and it is a fun read for pretty much anyone.

Sol Wednesday 18th

The peasants flock beneath my throne casting a disgusting stink through the castle. Luckily they cannot reach me, their foulness blocked off by the presence of my guards and servants.
"What do you need my peasants, is my land and love not good enough for you."
"No, no my king, we have but one request," they reply timidly,"We wish for you to lower the taxes."
I laugh, dismissing their petty words. Of course my peasants. I proceed to erase the taxes. All of the sudden the peasants run up the stairs, brandishing fierce looks and clubs. I scream and call for my guards to help me, but they do not, for the king shall be exiled.

Sol Monday

I walk through the gate slamming it shut behind me. As I hop up the steps I see my dog jumping at the door. I open the door and get covered in a face-full of mud. She bounds on her back legs and scraps her dirty paws all over my jacket. Her tail flaps like a flag on a windy day. She jumps down and starts licking my legs. Suddenly she stops and starts barking at me. Then she starts whining as she walks off. A confused look creeps over my face as I wonder what is wrong with my dog.

Sol Sunday

The scream of a bald eagle can be heard in the distance as it swoops in to land. The sound of freedom rings and echoes across the beautiful tundra. The flag flickers in the wind, bringing a tear to my eye. I raise my hand to my forehead saluting the beautiful flag that represents America. Love, Happiness, Beauty, and most importantly FREEDOM. The bald eagle lands on my shoulder, nuzzling its head against my cheek. I have touched freedom, I have touched America.

RONAALDDOOOOOOO- SOL #12

Ronaldo cuts inside of the defenders, receiving a ball beautifully played by Ronaldo #2. He spins with the ball zipping away from three defenders. Now the whole enemy team is upon him. They start to close in, their eyes piercing Ronaldo's soul, but Ronaldo does not feel fear. He plays a ball over the top of the defenders to Ronaldo #3. Ronaldo #3 touches it down beautifully with his left foot and starts dribbling with the ball. Suddenly he plays it back out to Ronaldo, who takes a fantastic touch and smashes it into the top left corner of the goal.
RONALDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
GOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL
The crowd goes wild, but Ronaldo goes even wilder. He runs to the corner over the field smiling and screaming.
RONALDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
RONALDOOOOOOO
CRISTIANO RONALDOOOOOOOOOOOO
GOOAALLLLL
He jumps and performs his celebration. The goal is over, but the amazement lives on in the stadium.

Sol #11

The thunder's boom could be heard across the sky, and the lightnings flash inspired a little spark of fear inside of everyone who watched. We stood there, watching, mesmerized and letting the rain drip down our sodden bodies. My hair clung to my forehead, and the occasional drip of water reached my neck. I grinned at the night sky taking in its beauty and sheer power, watching the thunder storm slowly drift across my field of view, eventually vanishing, and ceasing to exist.

Book Blog Slice- Fear- SOL#10

Fear is the third book in a series by Charlie Higson, a prestigious author that wrote the Young Bond series. A disease has struck the world, and everyone over the age of fourteen has turned into a mindless, rabid zombie, that eats anything in its way. Fear follows DogNut, a boy trying to survive in a group of 9-14 year olds in this harsh world. He faces challenges along the way, and experiences hardship and happiness. This book is fantastic, and is the second best in the series. It includes a little mature content.

Daylight Savings- #9

My arms heave as I flip my pillow over to the cool side. I glance at the clock, 4:34 in the morning. Plenty more time to sleep. I yawn and get comfortable, wriggling down into the depths of my bed sheets. I have a good two and a half hours of sleep, I think to myself. Little did I know the clock was lying. The time was really 5:34. Just as I drifted into the happy abyss of a dream I'm awoken, by a cold firm hand shaking me.
"Wake up, wake up,"The voice says,"It's time to get up."
Groaning I stretch out my arms. I squint my eyes and see the sun slowly rising from the horizon.
"It's not time to go," I reply.
"Yes it is," The figure says, showing me their phone. The time read, 7:00. It's all a dream, I think. This isn't happening, this is all a dream, but here I am at school, when it should really be 1:00, but now it's two, and my time has slowly been taken from me.

Sol- Sunday the 8th

I clutch my knees, making a frail attempt to comfort myself in such a harsh and fierce time. But the uncontrollable shaking that has possessed my arms doesn't yield. Life bereaved me of my weekend, and it was winding to an end. The cold wood floor presses against my cheek, and the scream of the wind howling against the house reminded me of my haunting fate. School, it was near, its very presence proved to enhance a primal fear inside me, one that shouldn't be awakened. My head shakes back and forth and a tear trickles down my cheek. My eyes burn a bright red and my shuddering body starts to heat up. My soul is lost, taken by it, corrupted by it, haunted by it, deprived by it. Fear.

SOL #7

My chest heaves up and down casting cool air into my lungs. I look up and shout, the ball is passed to my feet. Cutting in to the box two defenders come to stop me. I turn backwards and play the ball to the right mid. He plays it back and starts a run around my back and into the box. I backheel the ball in front of him, and he sprints into the box after it. The keeper starts running out and he chips him. We laugh and jog back to our half.

Friday SOL- #6

The glowing sun slowly drifts beneath the horizon and I laugh and sip a coke with my friend. We hop back on our bikes and race home. The cool wind chilling our burnt knuckles. When we get back home we do it again, and again, and again. It's painful but it's worth it. He slams my hand with the ball and it rolls into the hole. The process repeats, again, and again, and again.

Slicin about life- March 5th

SOL #3- Book Blog- One for the Murphys

One for the Murphys follows a girl, Carley who is left at the Murphys home so they can foster her. She is scared by this new world, but with the help of Toni the Murphys friend she begins to feel at home. But when her real mother wants her back, what will she do? I thought this book was okay, but it was a little boring in my opinion. It is a pretty easy read, and if anyone is looking for a book that can sometimes be touching this is the book for you.

SOLSC March 2nd- NUMERO 2!

Recently I watched the movie Gravity. Imagine the insurance costs after that. I mean even the ISS was destroyed. But nevertheless it was a good movie in my opinion. I am now officially never becoming an astronaut. It would be beautiful but I don't think I could handle confined spaces and then the open ones. When i was around seven I really wanted to become an astronaut, and the Axe advertisements are pretty enticing, but after watching that movie I'm not going anywhere near a rocket. Sorry NASA.

Snow Biking

Slipping and sliding all over the street we raced to the park. The occasional ram and tumble came into play as we made our journey through the snow. Our bike tires slipped and made a faint effort to
clutch the icy streets. Suddenly I felt a jolt from my back tire. I turned around to see the
culprit fly off of his bicycle and land in the snow. I peddled slightly faster to
escape the group and now I was leading the way another hit from
behind, but this time I was effected. My bike drifted
back and forth struggling to grip the paved
street. We all laughed and attempted
to ram each other for the rest
of the morning. Snow
days are
great.

Book Blog- Winter Collective-

My favorite book(s) are in the Wolf Brother series by Michelle Paver. I haven't read them in a long time, and I forgot most of the story, but over my Winter Collective I returned to my favorite in the series, Spirit Walker. This book follows Torak, in prehistoric times and his journey to avenge his father, which takes him across all odds and ends of the world. In this book he crosses the sea looking for a cure to a deadly disease that is sweeping the mainland. His adventures take him to many dangers, including sea creatures and people. This book is a relatively easy read, but is full of action and fun.

I used to chose books based on the cover, but now I tend to lean towards peoples reviews on them, and what I've read in the past and enjoyed. This has led me to better books, and more fun reads that i can thoroughly enjoy.

Next 3 books-

James and his sister Lauren are sent to investigate a case, where multiply scientists at an animal lab research center have been threatened and killed. Animal rights activists seem to be the culprits, but they have planned much more. Can James and Lauren stop them before it is all to late, or will something bigger develop. There is a lot of mature content in this book, like the others, but it is a fantastic read, and it is full of action.

Slice of Life- All Done

My finger slowly moves back and forth casting away the very last dry rubber cement. Fluttering through the air the freshly mounted paper slowly falls into place. Slice, slice, slice, slam. The sounds of the primary workroom paper cutter finishing my work. A heavy weight lifted off my shoulders, my prison bars crumbled. I was free, all free, and now, what next, no work, no RESPONSIBILITY. Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
The angels sing.

They must spy and try to gather as much information on the possibility of an attack. Will they gather enough information to stop an attack, or will an unknown attack occur and possibly devastate the world. There is quite a lot of mature content in this book, but it is fantastic and I recommend it to any avid reader looking for a book full of action and suspense.

This One Summer

This One Summer is a graphic novel about Rose and Windy who are summer friends. Each year both of their families go up to Awago Beach to relax, but this year something is different. Caught up in teen drama and a family crisis, this book tells a fantastic tale with beautiful descriptions. The pictures made this book 100x better, and they really paint a vivid image in your head. There is some mature content, but it is overall a really good book and i recommend it for any reader.

SOL 1-23

Her majesty exited the gates, a cup of tea in hand, and a smoking pipe in the other. Crumpet crumbs were dusted off by her butler, Edward, who responded to her beck and call. A ruby murray store down the road puffed out smells of spices and exotic food. A rolls royce pulled up to where the Queen was standing and a tall stiff man by the name of Sherlock Holmes exited the car. He tilted his hat and bowed to the presence of the Queen. The camera slowly paned out to a beautiful Union Jack fluttering in the wind in front of all of London's famous landmarks.

War

Mustard gas poured over the walls of the trench and only the hollow sound of screams retorted. Nate and I huddled next to the closest wall. Screams of men shook the walls of our trench. All of the sudden a large boom sounded, and a rain of artillery shells dropped down onto the enemies trench. This subdued the enemy for a little while and gave Nate and me a chance to advance through no-man's land. A large enemy soldier rose out of the trench and opened fire on us. We returned fire with our snowballs immediately crushing any opposing force in the trench. Suddenly a silhouette grew from the enemy trench firing mustard gas over our heads. Nate screamed and clawed at his face as we both rolled down the hill clutching our faces and trying to bury our heads in our hoods.

Cherub Book 3- Maximum Security

The Cherub series continues, and in this book James is sent to America, to break out Curtis Oxford, a young criminal in prison at the Arizona Maximum Security Prison. James' mission is to break Curtis out in order to bait Curtis' mother into coming out from hiding, because she is the second most wanted for her crimes. But this is no easy task, as the prison is filled with convicts accused for armed robbery and even murder. James must survive the prison, and make it out alive with Curtis Oxford. This book has a ton of mature content, but it is a thrilling read full of action and suspense. I recommend this book for readers that are looking for a adventurous read, but they can handle mature content.

Winter Break Slice of Life

The crackling of the fire sent a warm glow through the living room. My mind slowly drifted to rest, thinking about what was to come tommorow. A cold wind blew across the roof, and snow fell from the trees. I looked outside my bedside window and I could see the bright lights of houses slowly dim as the little ones were put to bed. A cold chill managed to creep through my window and I snuggled under my covers a little more. Bundling up in a little ball I rolled around on my bed. I finally was what I wanted to become, I was something great, something special, I was a burrito of warmth on a cold dark Christmas Eve night.

Happy 2015!
