The Red Necklace

The book is set during the French revolution. The main character, is a young gypsy with special magic abilities that allow him to throw his voice and read minds. He works with a dwarf Tetu, who has fostered him since his mother died. Yann and Tetu work for a magician, helping him perform in his acts. One night something goes wrong and Yann has to flee all alone. He meets a girl named Sido who is unwanted and unloved by everyone. I really enjouyed this book, it has a bit of mature content, but not much. Overall it is a really good book, and I liked how it touched on the French revolution as well.

Good Fortune

Ayanna lives in Africa in the early 1800s. She is taken from her mother who is murdered. Her name is changed to Sarah in Tennessee, where she picks cotton as a slave. She is soon taken under the wing by an elderly slave, Aunt Mary, and her son Daniel. Sarah learns about the harsh life on the plantation. At first she works in the field, but then she is forced to take care of her master's children. Soon Daniel has ideas of escaping the plantation. Will Sarah agree to escape with him? Find out in this thrilling historic book. There is a lot of mature content in this book, but I recommend it to mature readers.

Out of my Mind

Out of my Mind by Sharon Draper is a fantastic book in my opinion. It is a novel set from a young girl named Melody's perspective. She suffers from cerebral palsy. She can not move or talk, but she is smart. Melody dislikes her special education classes but she can't speak up about everything. People assume she is stupid and incompetent, but she is a really smart girl trapped inside a lifeless body. Her life is changed when she gets a computer that talks for her. I really enjoyed the book, it has little graphic content, and is a pretty fast read.

Every Body Sees The Ants

Lucky is a fifteen year old who is and has experienced many years of bullying from Nader Mcmillan. Lucky imagines himself in the Vietnam war trying to help his grandfather escape. Lucky and his mother go to Arizona to see Lucky's uncle Dave. Lucky meets Ginny, a seventeen year old hair model. This book is really interesting, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun exciting read. There is some mature content because of the war parts and Lucky's bullying. But overall the book is fantastic.
